Go to the following registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Window s\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Adva nced\Folde r\Hidden\SHOWALL

Delete the value CheckedValue. (Its type should be REG_SZ and data should be 2.)

Create a new DWORD value called CheckedValue (same as above, except that the type is REG_DWORD). Modify the

value data to 1 (0x00000001).

This should let you change the "Hidden Files and Folders" option.

The final solution:
1. Change the registry as Drvelasco said.
2. Change the Show Hidden Files Option.
3. Check your C:\Windows\system32\ directory and try and locate SVOHOST.EXE. If you have it continue from step 4

until the end, if not, leave it as it is.
4. Run your taskmanager (Ctrl + Alt + Del), and view the running processes. Stop SVOHOST.EXE.
5. Delete SVOHOST.EXE from the previous directory.
6. If you have any removable storage device (mp3 player, USB Memory Key, Removable Hard Drive), check for the

files sxs.exe and autorun.inf, and delete both.
7. Thats it, be careful who you share your removable devices
